Why is this website here?
Reason #1:
Because I’m hoping the producers at OWN will choose me for a project about awesome housewives they are putting together!
Reason #2:
To empower, share and advise people who are overwhelmed by managing their life. I think there are a lot of people who feel overlooked, undervalued and are depressed about it. Or maybe they gave up a great career and have never figured out where they fit in. Or maybe they’ve moved across the country for a spouse’s job and don’t know what to do. Or maybe they’re overwhelmed with how to manage their house so they don’t end up on Hoarders.
I hope by sharing some of the things I’ve learned, others might find a nugget of good information that will help them on their own journey.
What the heck are “Lessons in Life Design”?
Well, I’ve recently been in some really sucky situations…As in, moving across the country, having to start my career over, no longer being near friends or family, not having a home of my own, and on and on….
And I’ve come out of it better. I didn’t think that could happen. There were moments of real desperation and hopelessness.
All that has changed, but only because I made it change and because I had systems in place for keeping things organized and moving forward. I realized I was not a bystander in my own life, I was a creator. So I took responsibility and created different stuff. I think we can design our own life, and this website is about how I learned that lesson. (BTW – it’s still a work in progress since I’m not dead yet!!)
You can do it too. Really, no matter where you sit today, things can be really, super, crazy different in just a little while. But you have to change one thing – your thoughts.
You must have a lot of time on your hands.
Nope. I just use it wisely. I talk about it here.
What makes you the authority on all of these things?
I am sooooo not an authority on anything. Especially about you. No one can be that except you.
I’m just an experienced person, sharing what I’ve learned in hopes to save someone from all the time and expense I’ve already gone through. Oh yeah, and anger and frustration. Also, you shouldn’t believe everything that’s on the internet.
What have you learned that’s so important?
I’ve learned that there are only about three important things in life:
Cognition (and what you do with it – it has the power to change your life)
People (your family, whoever you choose that to be)
Time (it is more precious and scarce than you think)
So I hope I can help other people come to that conclusion as well by causing them to think, providing them with ways to spend their time on purpose and have more fun with their people.
Who are you?
Nobody, really. But I wrote a bio about myself here.
Why don’t you allow comments on all of your posts?
Well…as much as the old me would love to have a community that hung on every word I said and waited by their computer for a new post…the new me thinks:
1 – I have no time to moderate comments, and my kids and aunts read this blog (probably the only ones who do). Seriously…the writer friends I spoke of also have popular blogs…and you wouldn’t believe how much time they spend in the comments. Seriously.
2 – I’m trying to get people to go live their own lives – the real ones, not the internet ones. You don’t need another cyber community, you need to make a real, live one of your own
3 – You have better things to do besides comment here. Trust me
Why don’t you just get a real job?
Actually, I have a job. I also run a small consulting company. The long answer to this question got so long I decided to write a post about it. (not posted yet)
Why did you name your site JimandJimmie?
Because I miss my parents and I liked the sound of it. And the domain was available.
